Inexpensive entrée into the premium class
Mitsubishi Electric presents the HC5500, a new full HD entry-level projector
Beginning in September 2008, Mitsubishi Electric will offer the HC5500: a projector for all home cinema enthusiasts in search of a full HD model capable of meeting high technical demands at an attractive price. This successor to the successful HC4900 will celebrate its premiere at the IFA 2008. Not only is the HC5500 more technically advanced, but its long list of sophisticated features also exceeds that of its already extensively equipped predecessor. The new entry-level model rounds out the range of full HD projectors presented by Mitsubishi Electric at the IFA 2008.
This home cinema projector offers full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, thereby ensuring projections down to the smallest detail. In addition, the HC5500 uses an advanced automatic iris function to achieve a contrast ratio of 14,000:1. The automatic iris function reacts rapidly to changing light and dark film scenes, displaying even individual nuances in the finest possible detail.
With vertical expansion and horizontal compression, the HC5500 has two anamorphic setting modes. A special anamorphic lens available from specialised dealers can be used, for example, to project a Cinemascope image without displaying objectionable black bars. This means all pixels of the 16:9 panel can be fully utilised. The projected image thus genuinely extends to the edges of the picture, thereby visibly increasing detail and sharpness.
This full HD entry-level projector has an advanced HQVTM chip from Silicon Optix. It makes it possible to achieve outstanding image processing results even from conventional DVD sources.
The HC5500 also ensures ideal home cinema conditions in terms of noise level: with just 19 dB in low mode, it is one of the quietest projectors in its class. Moreover, it features an exceptionally long lamp life of 5000 hours in low mode. And in the rare case it’s required, easy access to the lamp permits rapid and trouble-free replacement of the light source.
Other sophisticated features include the motorised zoom/focus and the lens shift function. Each of these elements can be adjusted over two ranges: rough and fine adjustment. This provides maximum flexibility during installation, set-up and fine-tuning.
