Pressemelding: Panasonic introduces two new BD DiscTM players (DMP-BD35 and DMP-BD55)

Panasonic introduces two new Blu-ray DiscTM players with faithful colour reproduction, HD Audio Decoder and BD-Live compatibility

    Berlin, Germany ( August 28, 2008 )
    – Panasonic, the leading brand by which Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. is known, today announced the introduction of two new Blu-ray DiscTM players, the DMP-BD35 and DMP-BD55, featuring technology that reproduces cinema with colours that are exceptionally faithful to the original. This advanced technology, incorporated in the PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus video processor at the heart of the new players, was developed after more than 15 years of collaboration between Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory and professional cinema studios in Hollywood.

With PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus, users viewing content on Blu-ray DiscsTM enjoy crisp, vivid colours that are extremely close to the original. Also, a high-precision 4:4:4 function creates video signals in which each pixel of the signal from the Blu-ray DiscTM is colour-compensated, so when the DMP-BD35/55 is connected to a VIERA PZ800 series TV, the colours are even sharper and more vivid.

Thanks to an HD Audio Decoder (Dolby® TrueHD, Dolby® Digital Plus and DTSTM-HD Master Audio Essential), DMP-BD35/55 supports the superb 7.1-channel surround sound newly adopted in Blu-ray DiscsTM. Users can enjoy 7.1-channel surround even with systems that do not support HD Audio, as long as the DMP-BD35/55 is connected to a 7.1-channel receiver equipped with an HDMI terminal. The DMP-BD55 goes a step further, boasting a high-end audio design and components. Thanks to a 192kHz 24bit audio digital-analogue converter and high quality insulators, electrolytic capacitors, copper-foil film capacitors and ultra-low-impedance electrolytic capacitors, the DMP-BD55 delivers the same kind of exciting surround effect and lifelike ambience as today's finest cinemas. The DMP-BD55 can also output analogue signals for 7.1-channel sound, so even receivers that are not compatible with HDMI can produce the newest 7.1-channel surround sound by simply connecting to the DMP-BD55.

These high-quality image and sound technologies are incorporated in the UniPhier® chip, a Panasonic-created system LSI developed by applying 45-nanometer processing to a consumer product for the first time in the world. This single-chip integration technology also contributes greatly to the world's slimmest height of 49mm in the DMP-BD35.Both the DMP-BD35/55 is designed for versatile networking. BD-Live compatibility lets users connect to the Internet to download images, subtitles and other data, and take part in quizzes and multi-player interactive games linked to bonus cinema content on Blu-ray DiscsTM. Both models are equipped with a card slot that makes it easy to transfer images from an HD camcorder or digital still camera that uses SD Memory Cards. Simply insert the card, and the DMP-BD35/55 fills a large-screen TV with AVCHD-format video images or JPEG stills in full 1920 x 1080 resolution. You can also use the DMP-BD35/55 to play slide shows, complete with background music. Because the DMP-BD35/55 is compatible with the VIERA Link function, it can be operated by using only the VIERA remote control. The DMP-BD35/55 makes it possible for users at home to enjoy thrilling images and sound that approach the quality of those seen and heard in a fine cinema. These advanced new Blu-ray DiscTM players also make it easy to view high-definition images from a digital still camera or camcorder.
