New Full HD Projector in Competition with Cinema

With the XV-Z21000, Sharp presents its new flagship among the digital video projectors. The high-end Full HD DLP projector projects a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and a contrast ratio of up to 12,000:1 onto the projection surface.
Hamburg, 31 August 2006.With the new XV-Z21000, Sharp introduces the first Full HD DLP projector into the German market. The Sharp highlight for the ambitious home cinema user impresses with its native HDTV resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and a stunning contrast ratio of 12,000:1 at a brightness of 1,000 ANSI lumens maximum.
For the first time Sharp has equipped its high-end projector with a motor-driven iris with three-step, mechanical lens adjustment. The ideal ratio between brightness and contrast settings can be adjusted by opening up or stopping down the aperture via remote control from the sofa.
Also the connectivity of the new Sharp top model is perfectly suited for high-definition pictures: With two HDMI interfaces, a DVI-I plug, and an analogue component input, the XV-Z21000 offers various possibilities to connect HD video sources, which can be displayed in 1.080p, 1.080i or 720p. And there are further analogue interfaces, such as S-Video for displaying PAL/SECAM or NTSC signals.
The high-quality, three-colour colour wheel comprises seven segments and works at 5x speed; together with the 0.95 inch DLP chip from Texas Instruments, it provides flicker-free, brilliant pictures in natural colours. Since colour sensitivity is a very individual matter, the integrated Colour Management System offers every home cinema fan the possibility to precisely adjust the colours of the picture according to their personal preferences.
The lens incorporates vertical lens shift to optimise the projection angle if the projector is mounted to the ceiling.
The entire optical system is sealed against the intrusion of smoke and dust. This ensures a longer service life and reduces maintenance costs of the projector weighing 9.4 kilograms. Also the projection lamp guarantees long-lasting cinema enjoyment of up to 3,000 hours in the low power mode.
The XV-Z21000 will be available from October for €9,999 Euro (non-binding suggested retail price) at the specialist retailers.
