Struggling to find cable that I should use to transfer digital audio from Audigy 2 sound card to Yamaha receiver. Audigy has an option to send digital signal out via S/PDIF (some call it minijack) connection. Yamaha receiver has digital coax in connection (some call it RCA connection). So far, I could not locate shop in Oslo that would have ready available cable…. What are you guys using to send digital audio from HTPC to AV receivers???
All the cables I find with minijact at one side and RCA on the other side always has two RCA’s . Digital uses only one of course. Should I assume that digital signal will be send to one of two RCA’s or is is wrong cable. Here is the one I found at Clas Ohlson:
Also, I think minijack only needs 2 contacts, not three as on the cable I put a link above.
One has suggested following converter to use:
But this shop in in USA and I could not locate something similar in Norway. I can’t believe there is no solution, when so many users have HTPC’s at home.
In Denmark you can by ready made cable that seems to be ezactly for this purpose:
This cable seems so have S/PDIF with two contacts at one end and coax on the other. From that I understand that two contacts are needed to transfer digital audio signal. In other words it could be mono audio cable with contacts in the right places on minijack. Wonder if combination of following converters would work (none of them does a job alone, but combined, maybe):
6,3 mm mono to RCA
3,5 mm mono til 6,3 mm mono.
Would appreaciate if you could write where and what cable you bought. If link is available, even better

One of the two RCA connections will carry the digital signal.
