Hmmm, er det forumets egen Mastiff som har stukket av med
"most complete automation"
i WITHWOG, eller "What in the world of Girder" konkurransen??
(Hvis så, gratulerer!)

Mastiff i Girder-konkurranse?
12-03-2004, 11:36 #2Mastiff, from Norway, had the most extensive use of Girder from all of the applicants. In fact, Girder is a constant companion throughout his day. Mastiff uses Girder to turn on his receiver in the morning to play Norwegian radio to gently wake he and his wife up. In fact, it even changes the stations and increases the volume to ensure that he really does make it out of bed on time! Also, not only does Mastiff have multi-zone control in his house due to Girder, he has a multi-zone Chevrolet Suburban- his self-proclaimed “MediaSUV”. The vehicle has a carputer using J-River Media Center. Here’s an excerpt from his description of his MediaSUV:
“Control of the playback is done in one of two ways, either with NetRemote (since I have a WLAN access point inside the suitcase PC I have made for the car) or with the GKIR-XP plug-in. My reason to use this instead of the regular keyboard plug-in is that it can differentiate between different keyboards, while all other keyboard plug-ins will take a command from any keyboard that's connected. On the console between the front seats I have a Logitech DiNovo bluetooth "media pad", which basically is a numerical keyboard with transport and volume keys for a media player. This is used to select playlists and control playback to the headunit. So I press 1 to 4 digits again, from a print-out I keep in a binder in the car. That will start the play list to the headunit. My two kids, Kevin and Lisa, has their own zones on the MediaSUV, with headphones connected to the Live! 5.1 sound card or built-in AC97 sound card. If I want to put on some music for the kids I press / for Kevin and * for Lisa. Then the Say plug-in says "Lisa" or "Kevin" and all commands are sent to their zone. After 20 seconds a timer shifts control back to the headunit zone, so the Say plug-in says "Lisa off" or "Kevin off". If they want to put on music themselves they can, since there's an USB numerical keypad in front of them, on the head rest of each front seat, so they punch the numbers there.”
Absolutely amazing stuff- and again, worthy of our WITWOG prize!

Mange takk, mange takk!
