I've run into a very strange problem.

I recently bought an Infocus 7210, but after mounting it in my ceiling, aiming it correctly and adjusting it with keystone the picture wasn't right. Right as in the aspect ratio wasn't correct. After measuring it, lowering the projector and even replacing it with a 7205 to test we came to the conclusion that either my home theater room has a device in it that alters the laws of physics, or it's not possible to angle the 7210/7205 without screwing up the picture.

The problem is that the picture is higher than it is wide. It's not in a 16:9 aspect ratio at all. After an hour today with the guy from the hifi-store, an hour yesterday all by myself and about 2 hours a couple of days ago we're sure everything is setup correctly. The projectors lens is precisely in the middle of the screen (projector is not angled to the sides at all), the input signals (DVD and XBox) both send in 16:9, the projector is set to 16:9 and so on and so forth.

I have a distance of about 380 cm from my back wall to the front wall. The projector's cables sticking out in the back are almost touching the wall. The screen I have is a 16:9 screen, 180cm wide. When I get the projector to fill up the sides (after using some keystone, 29 on a scale from 0 to 100 where 50 is none) the image sticks about 3-4cm up on the top and on the bottom. We've done some 16:9 TXH optimizer tests with the circle, and it's clearly not round. If we move the image up on the wall enough to not need any keystone (about 40cm up from the frame of the screen) the aspect ratio is correct, moving it slightly down starts the process.

It looks like the projectors simply aren't squeezing the image enough vertically when we use keystone. It's supposed to squeeze the image on the side and up from the bottom, but it appears it just doesn't do that enough.

Anybody hear ever heard of this? Is my home theater room excempt for the laws of physics or is the simple fact that one will get a distorted image with a 7210/7205 as long as one has to angle it a bit?
