Hei, her bør jo Anders kunne komme med noen lovord!

small review Zero-Five
Today i saw at my local dealer the new Matterhorn Zero-Five model from projectiondesign, it was shown in a darkened room at a 92inch 1.0 gain screen. The movies they where showin was Chicken Run, Fast & Furious, James Bond
Later on we also connected the HD2 model-One from Projectiondesign
as input we only used the S-video, unfortunaly i can't tell the difference between the S-video input and the Progressive / DVI input, they did not have any DVD-player with this kind off connection, so i think cause the two projectiondesign models has the same kind of chasis and connections it must be the same with the model-One, so maybe someone can confirm this that the DVI works
I heard only 1 month ago from this projector, and all i can say , that the Projectiondesign models has one off the best designs.
The Brightness from the Zero-five model is 500-900 ansilumens, but boy this projector is bright enough for 120 inch screens or more, remember this projector was not calibrated, but i think if calibrated the picture would still bright enough
The First thing i noticed was a very good blacklevel, the James Bond movie was showing a part in the Ice, and than i could say that black was really Black, and white was really White
The Dark scenes has enough detail for not missing anything from the movie, for example Chicken Run , in the Dark scenes had enough punch and 3D , Perfect !!
Colors where very Natural , i think that maybe here we could tweak the Zero-Five a bit more, although the colors were ok, i think the colors were a little blur.
Comparison Zero-Five-> Model-One
The last 30 min. we connected together the Zero-Five and the Model-One, the first thing we noticed was that the Zero-Five was brighter than the Model-one, the Black level was the same , contrast was i think due different settings a small bit better on the Model-One, when showing a movie it was hardly to tell wich one was better, the zero-five had better whites but the Model-one was a littel sharper due his higher resolution.
This is a very good projector, it's a pitty i can not find any more information about the projectiondesign models , so i have a couple of questions about this projector, maybe someone can answer me.
1. Someone really measered the real contrast Ratio ( model-one / zero-five )
2. how does the model-one compares to for exc. the BenQ 8700 / and the Infocus 5700 ( which i think has much lower black/contrast , but better color )
3. are there some tests about these models
well any questions are welcome
thxs, greetings from the Netherlands

It's nice to se that Projectiondesigns products are picking up interest outside Norway.
Although I don't have answers to your questions I would like to bring to your attention the following:
a) Model 0.5 and the Infocus 5700 were reviewed by a norwegian magazine (Lyd og Bilde = translated: Sound and Image) and the Model 0.5 outperformed the If5700. I can try and send you some more details on that test if you're interested.
I have personally seen these two projectors side-by-side and can conclude that color, blacklevel and punch were better on the model 0.5!
b) There is a considerable difference in the throw ratio between the 0.5 and the model one. In a demo setup it's easy to forget that you need approx. 4.9meteres from the lens of the model 0.5 and your screen to achieve 100" image. This might not be an issue if your room is big enough. You can check this on their web-site.
In any case I strongly beleive you'll be very happy with any of these units.

thxs, for your reply
if you could send me the info about the test between the infocus 5700 vs. the Zero-Five i would be grateful to you. btw i ordered the 0.5 yesterday
greetings fro Holland

Congratiolations, I beleive you have chosen the best there is :-)
Here are some of the highlights of the test:
They used the Teac DV-50 (Analog) and the Samsung HD935 (DVI) as source.
0.5 had better sharpnes
0.5 had better depthfocus
0.5 had more organic and lively colours, in comparison the 5700 seems a bit faded and lifeless.
0.5 is smaller, quiter and more elegant.
5700 has a better remote control
Furthermore as I mentioned earelier they are critical to the throw ratio. On a scale from 1 to 10 the 5700 was rated 9+, and the 0.5 10.
I am now waiting for my model one

thxs, for all the replies,
i'm still very happy with it,
i tried to compared it with my last projectors and the Nec HT1000 which i recently saw at my local dealer, the Blacks are almost at the same level with the HT1000 and the colors are very natural as my last proki ( HT200DM ) rainbow effect is much better than the Nec and Sim due the 5x speed colorwheel
